We are thrilled to announce the partnership between Triple-Hil Sires and Masterpiece Genetics! For the past few years Masterpiece Genetics has been injecting new life into the Guernsey breed with a lineup of high-quality bulls. The
Masterpiece emphasis on providing genetics from proven cow families and common-sense matings is closely aligned with our breeding values at Triple-Hil Sires.
According to Ed Crossland, President, “I formed Masterpiece in 2020 because I was concerned about the narrow selection of genetics available to Guernsey breeders. In that time, our rapid growth including internationally, has been a
bit overwhelming, and I knew we needed to make some moves to accommodate this current and anticipated growth. I appreciate the integrity and efficiency of the Triple-Hil Sires organization who has proven themselves to serve some
of the neglected markets in the current AI industry, and being an hour away, it was a natural fit. They have been our largest distributor with a growing salesforce nationwide, and will be able to much more efficiently handle orders
and administrative day to day duties.”
Thank you for your continued support of Masterpiece Genetics. While our continued focus is on Guernseys, we are excited to be able to bring to you several other bulls from other breeds that we believe fit the “Masterpiece Mold”.
There is no secret that our focus is on providing sires with high type that will lead to long-lasting profitable cows that are pleasing to the eye! This does not mean we disregard the genomic tools continuously available to all breeders, but we also recognize the lower reliability in those numbers in the colored breeds, so it is just one tool we consider. We also look at sires and cow families to determine what animals are able to transmit their desirable traits to their offspring.
The most exciting part of our early history is that our earliest bulls have all proven results speak for themselves. Our very first Guernsey bull, Michelangelo, now has 36 classified daughters that are 92% GP or better, but is the 4th highest for Milk of the active AI sires. In fact, of our first group of proven Guernsey bulls, 92% are scored GP or better! We anticipate the same success with the other breeds.
